How to Find & Enter The Slab
Armored Flea Captors
Look for special armored flea enemies carrying cages. They appear in two main locations depending on your progress and quest state.
Warning: Killing these enemies prevents respawning - let them capture you instead!
Capture Locations:
Deep Docks (Act 1): Right side of the area - standard capture location
Greymoor (Quest Progress): Left side where Flea Caravan used to be
Act 2 Access: Can enter voluntarily without losing equipment
Strategy Recommendation
While you can intentionally get captured in Act 1 for completionist purposes, waiting until Act 2 is less punishing since you can leave at any time without the equipment retrieval challenge.

1 Part 1: Break Out & Find the First Bench
No Equipment Challenge
You start with no needle or cloak, making combat and platforming significantly more challenging. Focus on wall jumping, running, and avoiding combat when possible.
Step 1: Break the Wall
Drop down to the left and walk through the passageway to the next room.
Just to the right of the locked door, wall jump up and break a hole in the wall above you.
Caution: Watch out for floor traps as you run left and climb upward.
At the top, go left underneath enemies (one is holding your cloak!) until you see an exit.
Step 2: Find the Key of Indolent
Cold Outside: It's freezing cold, so move fast to avoid damage!
Drop down until you see another door that takes you back inside.
Defeat or run past enemies to the right, then drop down a level.
Speak to Grindle at the locked door, then go left into the room with a glowing item on a chain.
When you attack the item, two enemies appear. Defeat them to claim the Key of Indolent.
Use the key to unlock the door on the right side of the room.
Step 3: Reach the First Bench
Keep running right until you can enter another room.
Jump across the gap and enter the room on the right below the bench sign.
Speak to Grindle again and rest at the first bench for a checkpoint.
Checkpoint Secured: You now have a safe respawn point in The Slab.
2 Part 2: Retrieve Your Gear & Rescue the Flea
Equipment Recovery
This section focuses on getting your needle and cloak back, which dramatically improves your combat capabilities and mobility for the remainder of the escape.
Get Your Gear Back
From the bench, head right, drop down, and follow the path.
You'll be standing above the group of enemies from Part 1.
Automatic Recovery: Hornet will automatically take care of the first enemy and retrieve her equipment.
Fight through several waves of enemies - the final enemy drops the Key of Heretic.
There's another bench to the right where you can re-equip your Crest.
Rescue the Lost Flea
Open the gate with your key and head back to the center room.
Drop all the way down to the bottom level.
In the left room, there's an enemy guarding a Lost Flea in a cage.
Quest Progress: This flea is essential for completing The Lost Fleas quest.
3 Part 3: Collect Upgrades & Escape via Bellway
Multiple Path Options
You can choose to collect the Spool Fragment for a permanent upgrade, or skip directly to the escape route. The fragment requires additional platforming but provides a valuable tool improvement.
Collect Spool Fragment (Optional but Recommended)
Skip Option: Use your key to open the path down another level, jump into the hole below the Bellway sign, and skip to Step 4.
To get the upgrade:
• Run left past enemies (you can find a Shard Bundle here)
• Jump up the cages to the right and wall jump into the room above
• Follow the cave to the left until you can go back outside
• Wall jump up from there to find the Spool Fragment on the left
Escape via the Bellway
Down the Bellway hole, follow the path left until you drop down.
On the right is an enemy and a breakable gate leading to more enemies and another gate.
Locked Area: There's a lock requiring the Key of Apostate (late-game item) - skip this for now.
Drop down, move left, then drop down again to find the last bench in a room on the right.
Exit Fee Required: Going left leads to the Bellway - you need 50 Rosaries to buy your ticket out!
Freedom at Last!
Pay the 50 Rosaries at the Bellway station to purchase your ticket out of The Slab. You'll be transported back to the regular world with all your equipment and items intact.
Pro Tips & Strategies
Combat Without Equipment:
Bare Fist Combat: Your attacks are weaker but still functional - focus on hit-and-run tactics.
Avoid When Possible: Running past enemies is often safer than fighting without gear.
Wall Jumping: Your primary mobility tool - master it for better navigation.
Navigation Tips:
Cold Damage: Move quickly through outdoor sections to avoid freezing damage.
Floor Traps: Watch for suspicious floor sections that may collapse or spike.
Precision Jumping: Many jumps require exact timing - be patient and deliberate.
Timing Recommendations
Act 1 Capture: More challenging but allows early access to items. Good for completionists who want everything as soon as possible.
Act 2 Visit: Much easier since you can leave at any time. Recommended for casual players or those who want a less stressful experience.
Key Characters & Encounters
Grindle - The Helpful Prisoner
Grindle appears at multiple locked doors throughout The Slab, providing context and hints about your escape route. Speaking with him helps track your progress through the prison.
Armored Flea Guards
The captors who brought you here. One holds your cloak during the initial section. Be cautious not to kill them before getting captured, as they won't respawn.
The Lost Flea
A crucial collectible for The Lost Fleas quest. This flea is trapped in a cage in the lower-left area of the prison and requires you to defeat a guard to rescue it.
